Sharon was only 18 in 1991 when diagnosed with an MPN [polycythemia rubra vera (PV) and essential thrombocythemia (ET)]. However she believe her first symptoms started many years earlier, when she was at primary school. Now 50, Sharon has progressed to myelofibrosis. She lives on Brisbane’s northside and is a mother of three healthy children.
Sharon has a great passion for helping women with MPN, especially those diagnosed in childhood and brings that passion to the MPN AA team.
Sharon’s story was included in the Leukaemia Foundation’s 2021 newsletter – see link below.
She has also been interviewed on ABC radio to raise awareness about the need for stem cell donors and her own quest for a donor.
