The MPN AA has been asked to share information about a Peter MacCallum research project: the ‘Work & Cancer Project’.
The researchers are currently seeking participants for a short survey and online focus group. The project is about hearing and understanding the lived experience of cancer patients and how they navigate work. It is with a view to how best to support people to participate in work following a cancer diagnosis.
The researchers felt this is particularly relevant to MPN patients given that a common diagnosis for MPN is age 50 years and over, which researchers believe means we face our own unique set of challenges for maintaining and returning to employment.
Please note that the researchers would very much like to be able to reflect the MPN patient experience. So the question ‘Have you ever received treatment for cancer?’ is not meant to exclude the majority of MPN patients who are on ongoing treatment.
So the researchers have asked that, if you feel comfortable completing the survey and explaining the difference of your personal experience in the optional free text at the end of the survey, they would be very appreciative.
Otherwise, the researchers have advised that you are also open to expressing interest in participating in the focus group. They would kindly request that you make a note somewhere of your specific experience with MPN so they can be considerate of this experience when they reach their selection process.
You can link directly to the survey HERE.
Please note that the survey and focus group expression of interest closes COB Friday 16 January.
